A visit to North Wales is not complete without a canal boat trip at Llangollen Wharf. Take a 45 minute trip along the feeder of the Llangollen canal in a boat pulled by one of our gorgeous heavy horses. Gliding along silently past shoals of fish in the crystal clear waters, you can enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery of the Dee Valley. Alternatively, don't forget your camera for the 2 hour trip on the aptly named narrow boat THOMAS TELFORD. This travels from the Wharf across Telford's magnificent PONTCYSYLLTE AQUEDUCT, providing the thrill of travelling in a boat 126 feet above the River Dee. Refreshments and a bar on board add to the comfort of an unforgettable journey. There's an informative commentary throughout the trip. Please ring in advance to book as places are limited - two trips per day usually.
NEW FOR 2002 - DAY BOAT HIRE. A luxurious 32' day boat is now available for hire by families or groups of up to 10 people. You can hire a steerer or steer yourself, tuition is provided. The perfect way to have your own private boat for the day and see the beautiful Lllangollen Canal. Bring a picnic, stop at a pub for lunch or book a celebration hamper for that special occasion.
SHOPPING AND EATING. LLANGOLLEN WHARF LICENCED CAFÉ is the place to visit after your canal trip, with stunning views across the River Dee, the canal and Llangollen's rooftops as you take a light meal or a Welsh Cream Tea. A new gift shop sells authentic painted canal ware and canal souvenirs. Feed the ducks, pat the horses and admire our traditional working boat.
